Sempai Vikki Aumiller

Sempai Aumiller began training for amateur fitness and bodybuilding competition at age 16. Due to injury, she was forced to discontinue this pursuit. She began training in the art of karate-do under Shihandais Melanson and Reburn at the Rockville dojo in April, 1999, at 24 years of age. She earned her Shodan in July, 2004. Since receiving her Shodan, Sempai Aumiller has acted as an assistant instructor at the Phoenix Karate Frederick dojo, which opened on June 2, 2003. She enjoys attending tournaments and, aside from earning her Shodan, her proudest moment was winning the Spirit Award at the 2004 U.S. Capitol Sabaki Challenge. http://www.virginiakarate.com/gallery.php?g=2

Due to the fact that she has asthma, she understands that not everyone can achieve perfect conditioning. Therefore, she enjoys empowering others to be healthy in whatever way they can. A strong proponent of budo, she has studied Japanese language and culture, in order to better understand the origins of karate-do. She is an animal lover and also has a passion for environmental protection, previously earning a Governor's Citation from Governor William Donald Schaffer.

Sempai graduated in 1997 from Towson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications with emphases on Public Relations and Advertising. She worked for six years as a workers' compensation insurance adjuster before becoming a paralegal at a major insurance defense firm located in Baltimore, Maryland.
